Light Filing

(that's a deep cut New Girl reference - receptionist vs secretary - anyway)

The thing with Macs is that the file manager sucks. I always knew it should be better, easier, but never went to the painstaking trouble of looking for an alternative. Turns out, that's on me. Found this video with about a second of looking:

I didn't go to the trouble of looking at the other options, the first app he reviewed looked perfect: Forklift

I've been updating/building my photo library. 3 TB or so. 20 years. A totally new filing system which was a pain to implement with the puny Finder. But Forklift-ing it has been so easy.

I hate that it's in the subscription-model-hellscape the internet survives on now, but it's worth it to me.

Plus, if you think you'll need some other software ever again, you can get Forklift as one of many in the suite of products offered with a sub to SetApp. Again, subscription-ugh-whatever. But super helpful.

Even if I bail on Forklift down the road, just the past few weeks of work has updated my computer folder structure permanently and positively.

And as a treat for reading, here's the oldest digital picture I found, our dog Chloe.
